There are a number of styles of glass lighting. The classic style has always had its own vintage charm. The steel and Tiffany style lighting again serve to different tastes and have different appeals. There are silver golden-colored and bronze-colored finishes with wrought iron intricate works added on the glass base.
Glass pendants are particularly well suited to a kitchen. Here you can use them over the kitchen island or get mini pendants that are set over the counter tops. These mini pendants work well in a home office too or over the bed in the master.
LED bulbs are becoming the more popular choice for pendant lighting. They are perfect for task lighting and they are energy efficient but they can be more expensive than traditional bulbs. However LED bulbs also last longer than standard bulbs. The style of the pendant determines the bulb required.
A large single pendant is perfect for an entryway where only one source of lighting is needed. This also makes it an artistic focal point. A big pendant works great above a dining room table for the same reason.
Pendants are optimally used in places that cannot accommodate a table lamp. For example a corner of a living room might not have enough space to fit in a lamp shade. In such cases suspending the light brightens up the place and at the same time saves on space.
To some extent modern ones differs from its traditional counterparts in one manner. They are now operated on battery too. One reason for this could be the absence of electric sockets at desired locations.
